Residence - Cambridge, MA
Located near Harvard Square in Cambridge Massachusetts, this landscape design is for an existing residence in an urban neighborhood that contains recently renovated traditional homes. The clients are a professional couple with a young family that sought a transformation of the outdoor living space that includes a round cedar spa. The large ipe deck, stainless steel cable railings and board formed concrete walls combine to define a setting for family gatherings and entertaining. Flowering cherry and dogwood trees will provide a secluded space when mature. Thermal finish bluestone is used for steps and to demarcate the walkway that leads from the exposed aggregate concrete driveway to the backyard. Thomas Hecht Associates Architects designed the modern interior and was responsible for the renovation of the home.
